TRIPLE THREAT TV
WHO WE ARE:
Triple Threat TV is a kickass independent TV/Web production company. We work
regularly with over thirty network channels to develop and produce cutting
edge non-fiction TV and web programming. In our three years of production we
have landed series, pilots and web work with: MTV, A&E, Discovery, CNBC,
TLC, Biography, Google, General Mills, and the list keeps on growing!
OUR PROGRAM:
"The best grad school experience that you never paid for."
Many college students aspiring to work in television assume that their
degrees, hard work ethics, and pleasant demeanors will earn them a job
immediately following graduation. The truth is that the television industry
does not hire people straight out of college. For a host of reasons, the
industry uses more of an apprenticeship model, where aspiring young people
intern to develop their skills. After months or sometimes years of working
to simply get their foot in the door, the talented ones hopefully graduate
to paid positions and start their careers.
It is for this reason that we have created the Triple Threat TV Development
Academy - a program that will offer you an immersive experience with a
cutting edge, non-fiction production company and a means to kick the door
down with authority. At Triple Threat TV, our interns are our life's blood.
As such, we will treat you as we would any other employee. You are expected
to make a full-time commitment to the program, devoting your heart and mind
to your work. In exchange, you will gain a sense of accomplishment and
practical knowledge that comes from the experience of working on both the
production and development sides of programming.
Two different weekly development meetings are held with our interns
specifically in mind. The first provides you with updates on general company
business while giving you the opportunity to contribute to developing
projects or become a project captain for new projects. The second, the "Idea
Factory," affords you the opportunity to brainstorm and generate your own
show ideas for the development slate in a relaxing, creatively free
environment, with the ultimate goal being the creation of a viable program
to sell to a network. In addition, monthly tutorials are given by the
company's owners, as well as visiting associates, regarding a broad range of
industry topics such as budgeting, creation of a pitch, and camerawork. Most
importantly, as you contribute to the company's growth, you will be
fulfilling your own goals of learning the television business through
hands-on experience.
At the end of it all, you will graduate from the program, possibly leading
to a paid job at Triple Threat. In the past eighteen months, more than fifty
interns have gone on to become paid employees. Others have attained jobs in
the industry through Triple Threat production "ins," and executive
references. Wherever the next step in your media career may take you, Triple
Threat will be there to guide you with advice, recommendations and contacts.
99.9% of the interns who complete the program are thrilled with their
experience and believe it will be of significant value in their professional
career. The remaining 0.1% did not take advantage of the opportunities
afforded to them by the program.
